Santa Cruz Valley Union High School and Arizona State University alum Levi Jones had been waiting to sign with an NFL (National Football League) team for the first six weeks of the season. His wait it over.

Jones signed a contract to play offensive line for the Washington Redskins. Jones has kept himself in good shape waiting for an opportunity to present itself. The Redskins have been decimated by injury and needed some serious help. There is a possibility that not only will Jones be able to help Washington this season, but he may step into the lineup sooner than thought.

The Washington Redskins have started out the season 2-5 and are in desperate need of some life. Recently the Redskins demoted their head coach Jim Zorn who was previously the play-caller for the offense. The Redskins were expected to be a bit more competitive in the NFC East.

Jones signed with a team that may be in a state of shambles, but he really just wanted a chance to show that he can still play.

In 2002, Jones was drafted 10th overall in the NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Four years later Jones played himself into a new long term deal. In 2006, Jones signed a contract extension with the Bengals on July 25, 2006. The deal was a six-year, 30 million dollar deal. After signing, Jones went through a series of injuries that eventually left the Cincinnati Bengals no choice but to cut him in May 2009.

Jones hopes to resurrect his career with the Washington Redskins, and prove that he’s still got what it takes to play in the National Football League.
